San Diego International Airport is easily accessible by bus, trolley or driving. Highway access provided by Interstate 5, located less than one mile to the east, and Interstate 8, located less than two miles to the north.

To reach all three Trolley lines, from Terminals 1 and 2 take City Bus Route 992 to the Broadway and Kettner Blvd bus stop in downtown San Diego. Once off the bus, the UC San Diego Blue Lines can be accessed from the America Plaza Station on the corner of Broadway and Kettner Blvd and the Orange Line can be accessed from the Courthouse Station. The Sycuan Green Line can be accessed from the Santa Fe Depot Station on Kettner Blvd, one block north of the bus stop.
The San Diego Flyer is a free electric shuttle bus service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Old Town Transit Center. The electric shuttle bus operates 7 days a week, with an average arrival every 20-30 minutes. Passengers to and from San Diego International Airport can connect with Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner and the COASTER at Amtrak's Santa Fe Depot train station in downtown San Diego by using San Diego Bus Route 992 from from Terminals 1 and 2. Route 992 operates between 5:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends and holidays.
There are no car rental service counters at the San Diego International Airport. All the major car rental agencies are located off-site at the Consolidated Rental Car Center. Upon arrival at the airport, take one of the Free dedicated shuttles to the Rental Car Center at San Diego International Airport.
The Consolidated Rental Car Center is located on the airport’s north side and combines the operations of most of the rental car companies serving the airport into one facility.
These free shuttle vans operate every few minutes to transport customers between the airport terminals and the Rental Car Center.
